Sporty feet and high heels
Bad toenails are the most common complaint we get at Feetsavers. We have teamed up with Polish Hand and Foot Spa in Fitzwilliam Street to ensure you can continue wearing gorgeous sandals or flip flops and still continue running. Please see our before and after pictures of toenails.

High heels
The MOST important thing to know about wearing high heels on a regular basis is to look after the Achilles tendon, the tendon at the back of the leg, just above the heel area. The only way to continue wearing high heels for the rest of your life is to do daily stretches and strengthening to keep this tendon strong and to keep you wearing your gorgeous shoes and showing off those legs. We have teamed up with BodyRight Chartered Physiotherapists to help you do just that.
Ingrowing toenails
This is our speciality. If you feel even slight pain, ring us ASAP to avoid the need for surgery. Very often we can fix the problem in a regular podiatry appointment (half and hour to 3/4 of an hour) but if you leave it too long and the nail and skin get infected and red and swollen then the only solution is nail surgery. Surgery takes two hours to complete and healing takes six to seven weeks. We follow surgery up with regular dressings until the healing is complete and you are fully satisfied.

The Cochrane Database is a database that reviews all the medical research from all over the World and it concludes that: ‘Phenol cauterization is an excellent surgical method’
And
‘The medical evidence suggests that simple nail avulsion combined with the use of phenol is more effective at preventing recurrence of ingrowing toenails’
The bottom line in this research is that the nail surgery carried out by a fully qualified Podiatrist (B.Sc. Pod Med) is medically proven to be the best.
‘At Feetsavers we pride ourselves on our 100% success rate with all the ingrown toenail surgery we undertake – with patients experiencing no regrowth of problem nails’.
Verrucae
Please complete the questionnaire on the website and we will email you advice about this. If you want to see the research we carried out on this subject please look up ‘Research into plantar warts unearths some interesting findings’ by Guckian et al on google.com .
Heel Pain
The Achilles tendon and the heel pain are connected. If you have pain it could be connected to this. There are a few reasons why you may have this problem. Try an ‘off the shelf’ insole from BodyRight Chartered Physiotherapists first and soak in Epsom salts and water and if that doesn’t work in a few days, contact us.

Corns and Callous
Corns are just simply ‘ingrowing skin’. When you have an area of high pressure to a part of the foot, the body starts to build up skin in that area. If you ignore the body, it will shout louder in the form of pain or ulceration. If you treat it with a corn plaster, it might give relief for a short time or it might do this: See below. Corns need to be surgically removed by a qualified professional. See Chapter 12 of ‘Floor Play’.

Diabetic and Arthritic Feet
The main problem here is lack of feeling or ‘neuropathy’, a condition where the nerves are not working properly. It is really important to get your feet checked at least twice a year to avoid complications due to neuropathy.
